Comments Policy

I love it when you comment on my blog in a way that contributes to the discussion and is relevant to the post you’re commenting on. These kinds of comments add value to the blog and cause people to think more and stimulate quality discussion.

In order to maintain a high standard on the comments section, I have to remove comments from time to time.

I will delete the following sorts of comments:

1. Spam.

This is a no-brainer. I use an anti-spam plug-in and “captcha” software to prevent spam in the comments section. However, spam can still slip through now and again.

Examples:
“Enlarge your weapon and please your woman by clicking here.”
“Try our cheap, cheap Viagra.”
“Find a date in your area.”
“Cheap pharmaceuticals.”
“Please visit my blog.”

These kinds of spam comments will be chewed up and spit out faster than you can count to one.

2. Comments that only praise/criticize me or the post.

While I don’t mind praise or criticism from people from time to time, ultimately it doesn’t add anything to the comments section and can even interrupt the flow of discussion, if that’s the whole substance of a comment.

Examples:
“Great post!”
“Keep up the good work!”
“Well done.”
“You’re a retard.”
“This post sucks.”

Many blogs will receive compliments in their comments section, not because people are necessarily genuinely complimenting you or the post, but because they want other readers to click on the URL link in their name or signature drawing traffic to their own blog or site. Comments which only amount to this are borderline spam and will therefore be treated as spam and be deleted.

3. Inappropriate language and tone.

Comments full of racist, sexist, hateful, offensive language or overly negative and aggressive overtones will be terminated as soon as spotted. Sorry, Osama.

Examples:
“You’re a loser.”
“Death to all infidels!”
“Shut the f*** up, f*ggot!”

If you write these types of comments, you are very naughty and deserve to be sent to bed without any supper. Your comments will also be deleted.
